The Regional winners have been announced and we are delighted to learn that Essex has four worthy candidates going through to the National Stages, a very strong year for us as a county building on our success of last year

“The  LTA Tennis Awards are our way of thanking and celebrating those who provide such a valuable contribution to tennis from grassroots through to elite level. As well as being high in number, the entries were also of an extremely high calibre and our judging panels for all categories were incredibly impressed. We are delighted that the tennis community continues to nominate such inspiring individuals, particularly after such a challenging past year, and we are really looking forward to announcing the 2021 winners and celebrating their outstanding achievements at the national ceremony.”

Meet our winners below:

Les Cambridge, Lifetime Achievement at Billericay LTC  –   I am very pleased and honoured to be given the Award of Lifetime Achievement. At the club, we have worked long and hard over many years to enhance the tennis playing experience at Billericay and in the local Community. I would like to thank the Members and the Committee at Billericay LTC  for their continued assistance and also the support we have received from Essex LTA’

Paul Draper Volunteer of the Year at Brentwood Hard  –  ‘I am absolutely delighted to have been recognised with awards from both the Essex Tennis and the Central & East of England Region. It is fantastic that an ordinary club such as ours has received recognition at this level and will go on to be represented at the National awards in June – which, should we be fortunate enough to win, would be the first time in the club’s history and would be a very proud moment for the club and me personally’

Helen Parish Performance Coach of the Year at Billericay LTC‘I am thrilled to be recognised as the LTA Central & East Region Performance Coach of the Year. I’m privileged to work alongside a fantastic coaching team and committee at Billericay LTC who continue to support me and our players unconditionally. To be ahead of schedule in hitting our goals for the performance programme, in spite of the challenges posed by Covid-19, is incredible and I’m grateful to all the players & parents who continue to invest in me as their coach and trust me to deliver progress for them at Billericay. Thank you to both the county and regional panels for selecting me for this award.”

Christine Dransfield School Education Provider for St. Pauls Way Trust School –  ‘We are very proud to have received this award this year. Tennis plays an important role in the life of the school, and we are delighted that the programme has been recognised by the LTA. Our Greenhouse Sports tennis programme was introduced eight years ago to inspire students to participate in an aspirational sport – one not traditionally played in the area. We have now reached over 350 students with several going on to gain coaching qualifications. A true team effort!’
